Select Problem Statement
GreenPod Labs - Agriculture
Reduced COGS as its high cost slimming the margin - with raw materials alone 60% cost so bringing it down even 20% would save lot of money and improve margins - the top material is a non woven fabric - this absorbs moisture so there is no fungal growth in the fruits (banana) - bottom layer is BOPP or LDPE sheet.
Grain storage or nuts stored in silos - storage major challenge of fungal growth - High moisture content even carcinogenic.
Upcycling of by products of food industry (drinks spent grain, fruit juices etc choose 4 major ones and provide upcycled solutions).
Select Problem Statement
Showkat - Energy & Tourism
Pyrolysis - condensor choking - reactor failures - backfires - design small plants 2 to 3 tonnes capacity at the Panchayat level - to produce pyrolysis oil and carbon black then to treat at landfill level itself like biomining and finally for the organic wastes as manure - Because in big cities the bigger plants have huge technological failure - Small 3 tonnes plant for Jammu and Kashmir - collect and segregate all types of waste for small reactors at town/village level producing pyrolysis oil (diesel for 100 rupees but we can get 40 rupees), organic manure and carbon black.
Tyre waste into rubber mesh or atheletic tracks or as foot mats - NOT PYROLYSIS as its highly polluting.
Converting landfill sites into parks as done in Delhi similar design for Jammu and Kashmir.
Dal Lake boat rides using traditional boats they are highly polluting - building eco friendly tourism model for Jammu Kashmir - Try to go for cable skiing as its less polluting - explore all activities there what is polluting and find alternatives and suggest complete model for eco tourism - ATV bikes are polluting and electric bikes can be used.
In Gulmarg plastic needs to be avoided - how to collect segregate and utilise plastic waste in Himachal Pradesh.

Low value extracted material of lithium iron phosphate as experts predict - how can maximum be extracted in a viable manner from the waste batteries.
Select Problem Statement
KM Pet - Plastics & Waste management
Marine fish nets it had HDPE ropes and nylon and even cotton - earlier it was only one material Nylon - different products different plastics - so they are not recylable properly - for this conical extruder needed costly 4.2 crores - to recycle bulky material like Nylon fishnet and PP woven sack bags.
Frictional washing - for oil contaminated plastics currently being used is 20 horsepower only - but in germany the friction washer is 150 horsepower which removed atomic level oil contamination from post-consumer wastes - this high amount of energy takes up high amount of money - to design fricitional washing with less power consumption and not to drain lot of cost for energy itself.
Select Problem Statement
Lucky Motors - Transport, Waste Management and packaging
Bad debts in vehicle based loans (unable to trust people if they can pay the loan or not as we cant verify the background so much without CIBIL score access - and if they default some run away with the vehicle too) - so we need a tool to track - not only GPS but something inbuilt inside the vehicle which cannot be removed or removed and replaced - a chip or a sticker, someway if GPS is integrated into the vehicle and once loan is paid off it it can be removed.
How to assess the credibility of the person especially daily wage workers or minimum wage workers who want to take private loans.
CRM tool to manage data of private lending of minimum wage workers - manual data to be entered and maintained in software.
Spare parts stolen by company employees or outsiders - depsite camera being present - tracking vehicle end to end a tool or method which no one can cheat in anyway.
Medicine blister packs - recycling - the collection is the main issue - what methodologies or systems we can use to collect them effectively - to segregate/separate them from other post-consumer municipal waste.
Processing of medicine packaging post-consumer waste - there is lack of purity - the mechanical process is followed predominantely - first they grind it seive it into fine powder and then electrostatic separation is done where the metal is separated from the plastic - purity is 85 to 90% - not good enough for the industries they need upto 99% purity - however chemical processes work well in the lab but not scalable - to develop a solution that is maybe hybrid and affordbale which can give a high purity of 99%.
Select Problem Statement
Proklean - Leather, Production and effluent treatment
Sustainable packaging that is cost affective for packing home cleaning liquids
Select Problem Statement
Seagrass Tech - Aquaculture
Design and fabrication of photobioreactors that utilise saltwater for marine microalgae cultivation at an affordable cost - a closed reactor system at affordable cost - this wont be affected by monsoons like the open raceway ponds - low cost PBRs with better quality of output - Upstream problem being faced by many.
Downstream - purification methods are mainly chemical based flocculants - used to harvest the microalgae - need for low cost filtration methods for removing and harvesting algae - this will reduce the dependency on chemicals - need to be affordable and give higher yield and purity.
Designing a vertical tower based stacking system - affordable model for cultivation of microalgae - so space requirement is reduced and volume of production can be increased.
Affordable and sustainable packaging - vaccum sealable - for photosensitive beta-carotenoid powders packaging for export.
Design processes to reduce number of steps in the downstream process - one machine that can do centrifuge and filtration and drying to give the final dried powder - so ultrafiltration and centrifuge can be clubbed as one machine process - then the amount of wastage will be reduced - there will be time and cost savings also - amount of yield will be better 5 to 10% increase in yield also will be highly beneficial for the industry.
