What is Hack4Purpose?

Hack4Purpose is a national-level hackathon focused on solving real-world problems aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It brings together students, MSMEs, and industry experts to foster innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

Hack4Purpose began in 2024 with its first edition, which was successfully completed. Now, the competition is entering its second edition, continuing its mission to inspire and empower the next generation of innovators to drive change in industries and communities across India.

Hack4Purpose is specifically designed for students from Tier 2, 3, and 4 colleges across India. Students pursuing degrees in Engineering, MBA, Arts, and related fields can apply.

Students currently enrolled in IITs, NITs, IISc, or any other Tier 1 institutions are not eligible to participate in Hack4Purpose. 

Individuals who are already running their own startups or businesses are not eligible to participate.

Hack4Purpose offers a DPurpose Grant of ₹5 lakhs, which will be distributed among the top 25 teams based on their funding needs. The Grant will be provided in a structured manner, ensuring that teams receive support according to their progress and specific requirements for development

Hack4Purpose 2nd Edition registrations, selection of Top 100 teams and all training sessions, mentorship will be in a digital format and Grand Finale in December will take place offline in Chennai, Tamil Nadu where Top 100 teams will present their solutions to Judges.

The college that receives the highest number of applications for Hack4Purpose will be honored with the National Sustainability Award, recognizing their commitment to promoting sustainability and supporting the next generation of innovators.

Teams must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 members, including at least one female participant.

There is NO registration fee for any student, the event is completely free.

One team leader and one female member in a team is mandatory. The team can include students from different colleges or departments.
